Among the 8 Royal Parks in the British Capital, one of them is Hyde Park. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens cover the greatest open area in London. This park was formerly a portion of Westminster Abbey but was taken over by Henry VIII in 1536 and turned into a royal deer park until Charles I finally allowed public access in 1635.

It is currently one of London's most visited attractions. And regardless of the time of year, whether you're in London for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or some serious touring, Hyde Park should be on your to-do list.

Things to do in Hyde Park

  • The Rose Garden is a popular tourist attraction in Hyde Park's southeast corner. A magnificent garden with roses and herbaceous plants provides seasonal flower beds rich in bloom and pungent perfume to park goers. Although early June is the ideal time to see the roses, they continue to bloom until the first frosts. The flower beds are only planted twice yearly, in the spring and summer, but there is always something to view there.
  • From May through early September, London's Serpentine Lido becomes a popular destination for swimmers seeking to take advantage of the city's warmer weather.
  • Tennis, paddle, football, netball, and lawn bowling are just some sports that can be played at the Hyde Park Tennis and Sports Hub for a fee. Come to Hyde Park if you are in the mood for some sporty fun.
  • There are two authorized areas for horseback riding and eight miles of trails in Hyde Park for horse riding. Gain experience or training in these fields.
  • A boat ride or some unguided wandering around the Serpentine lake is both viable options for admiring the beauty around.
  • You can choose from the park's restaurant, café, or one of the many snack stands. Indulge in some fast-food meals at this location.
  • Enjoy the tranquility and fresh air by relaxing by the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain and taking in the breathtaking views.
  • There are also cycling excursions that go through the park. Visit this gorgeous park if you wish to indulge in leisurely cycling.
  • The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, which takes place from mid-November to early January, turns the park into London's biggest and most extravagant Christmas market. Make sure to be a part of this extravaganza during this time of the year.
  • A well-known free speech forum is located at Speakers' Corner in the park, and weekends are always bustling there. It is where anyone with a complaint, a goal, or simply something to say may find an audience and is located opposite Marble Arch.
  • If you're searching for something quick before entering the park, Dozo is a wonderful choice. The rolls are enjoyable, and the sushi is of high quality.
