Amalfi Coast offers one of the most scenic stretches of coastline in Italy. It is built on towering cliffs with villages that drop off into the blue Tyrrhenian Sea. Since the time of the Romans, tourists have been drawn to the Amalfi Coast's elaborate villas, spired churches, lemon groves, and terraced vineyards. Today, tourists still flock there for activities like hiking, swimming, and sailing, as well as to shop, relax, and enjoy a Spritz while watching the sun go down.

A 60-kilometer stretch of coastline in Southern Italy's Campania province, the Amalfi Coast lies 20 kilometers from Sorrento and is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. The SS163 highway, a cliff-hugging serpentine road, is one of the most stunning driving roads in Europe, connecting 13 cities and villages.

Along the coast and in the hills behind them, there is a series of waterfront towns. Each town has its own character, from glitzy upscale boutiques and beach clubs to the peaceful mountain village of Furore. All have a lot of charm and unmatched natural beauty, some of which are well-known and others that are still relatively obscure.

The largest town is Amalfi, which offers a variety of accommodations as well as a lively restaurant and bar scene. Positano is the most upscale location on the Amalfi Coast, boasting a breathtaking backdrop, upscale restaurants, and the region's best nightlife. Another well-liked destination for couples seeking a getaway is Ravello, which has opulent hotels like Villa Cimbrone.

Rather than having a lot of must-see sights, the Amalfi Coast is popular with tourists because of its stunning views and a wonderful location for wandering. The Emerald Grotto at Conca Dei Marini, the gardens at Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, and the cathedral and cloisters in Amalfi are some that you should not miss.

The Amalfi Coast is home to a number of beaches, but they are more pebbly than sandy and include more rocky coves than long, golden lengths of sand.

If you do not want to plan it yourself, there are various day trip packages that include transportation to and from the Amalfi Coast by bus, boat, or a combination of the two. By spending the night, you may see the coast at night when it is more peaceful and take in the breathtaking sunsets over the Bay of Naples.
