The Archaeological Park of Pompeii, which lies outside Naples, is one of the rare places where you can actually physically live history rather than see it reflected in a book or movie. Walking on and around the 66 hectares (or 163 acres) is like walking in and around some 66 hectares (or 163 acres) that has not had much in the way of renovation, updates, modifications, or new construction in nearly 2000 years, that sensation was like stepping inside a museum glass case time capsule and it contained the skeleton of daily life in Pompeii until it was frozen in time when Vesuvius erupted nearly 2000 years ago. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii is a period of time in history, frozen in time. This is where you will not only learn history, you will experience it.
Monday to Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5: 30 PM
For sure - Pompeii is one of the most incredible archaeological sites in the world, and you can walk through a city of ancient Romans momentarily preserved as Mount Vesuvius buried it.
You need at least 3–4 hours to see the highlights, and a full day to see more.
Because it was buried by Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 which preserved homes, roads, and people and gives us an unbelievable view of everyday life for Romans.
