Middle East
Middle-East is filled with hidden gems and priceless surprises. So if you are tired of the same old itineraries and wish to explore the shores unknown, then head to these destinations that appear on fewer tourism hoardings and websites.
Though the name reveals the big surprise (the sand here is red), the splendid views and the gorgeous sunset are unparalleled and can’t be expressed in words. Enjoy an hour’s drive through the winding roads dotted with mountains, ancient date forests and green hills and valleys. Away from the humdrum and traffic-ridden cities, this place gives a much-needed break to the Saudis who love this place for their weekend getaways.
Perched at an elevation of 134 meters above sea level, Jabal al-Dukhan is the highest point in Bahrain. It is more popular under the moniker of ‘Mountain of Smoke,’ named so because of the haze surrounding the peak. While here, you can also explore Al Areen Wildlife Park, the Tree of Life and Al Jazeer Beach too.
An ideal location to get away from the bumper to bumper traffic of the city. Situated in Al Ain province, Jebel Hafeet is the only mountain in the area of Abu Dhabi. Significant fossil discoveries have been made here.
The main tourist attraction is Green Mubazzarah, which is a well-developed attraction comprising of a geyser, a children’s play park, chalets for hire and several hot-water springs that form a lake. A small dam named Mubazzarah Dam is also a freely accessible attraction.
This destination is more prevalent than its counterparts on the list as this is the highest peak in UAE and experiences occasional snowfall! Its natural Instagram-worthy landscapes and the fact that it is home to the longest zipline in the world also helps its popularity. Experience a soothing road trip along the mountainous roads with views of barren, eroded cliffs, deep canyons, and warped mountains around every bend.
A castle located on the highest point in Arnoun, Nabatiyeh above 700 meters above the sea level is as dreamy as it can get. The name Beaufort Castle means “beautiful fort” in French. Construction of the crusader fort here began on the previously existing fortification in 1139 A.D.
It was the centre of the Lebanese Civil War but is now a budding tourist destination.
Musandam, also famous as the “Norway of Arabia,” has its share of mountain ranges and fjords. Explore this hidden wonder of Oman in the traditional way of embarking on an Arabian dhow along the fjord or go snorkeling or over-water climbing. While here don’t miss the Tawi Rock paintings, Bukha fort, Ru’us al-Jabal Mountains and Jebel Harim.
When city life and its hustle gets overwhelming, Kuwait’s Khiran district comes to your rescue. With its clean beaches and ultra-luxurious chalets, Khiran is becoming more and more popular amongst the Kuwaitis and other tourists.
While you explore the hidden gems of Saudi Arabia, don’t miss out on the capital city’s biggest gala, Riyadh Season 2022. Know all about Riyadh Season’s events and purchase your tickets on our platform.
