Majestic and Empire Theaters

Experience the magic of times past at these breathtakingly preserved locations. The Majestic Theater, which opened in 1929, features a stunning Spanish Mediterranean design throughout its interior. This includes a ceiling covered in glittering stars and clouds, a marble foyer floor, and a massive chandelier. Its past splendor has been lovingly restored, making it a tourist-favorite spot. Concerts, plays, and musicals are just some of the entertainment options at the theater. Famous artists like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Harry Houdini have all performed at the Majestic.

The nearby Empire Theater was also constructed in 1929, and like the Majestic, it has an Art Deco décor with vivid colors and geometric motifs. With fewer than a thousand spectator seats than the Majestic, this theater is better suited to hosting smaller events and productions. The Imperial Theater, a famous venue for live performances, stand-up comedy, and film screenings, has also been brought back to its former glory.

Both theaters are centrally located in downtown San Antonio, making them great options for a fun evening out. Before the show, stop at one of the numerous neighboring restaurants for dinner and drinks. Take a stroll around San Antonio's historic River Walk after the show.
