Historical relics abound on the well-known boulevard of Place du Vieux-Marché. Joan of Arc was executed here, and her body was burned to death. At the spot where she was burned at stake, a crucifix now stands.

On its whole, the square constitutes a magnificent complex that draws in a steady stream of sightseers and curious minds. In honor of this French heroine, the museum Musée Jeanne-d'Arc and a picturesque cathedral have been constructed. In addition, there are many interesting shops, museums, and other unique buildings lining the street.
